The Cool Kids certainly had one hot night at Emo's in Austin, TX. Minutes after taking the stage, Evan "Chuck English" Ingersoll whipped off his shirt, while his co-emcee Antoine "Mikey Rocks" Reed panted, "I feel like I'm in the microwave!" But the heat didn't deter the sold-out, all-ages crowd from partying like it was 1999 to the duo's giddy old school tunes.

Reconfiguring samples from Dr. Dre, Wu-Tang, and 2live Crew, the duo created a hand-waving, fist-pumping, block party atmosphere perfect for the end of summer. Between songs off their new Bake Sale EP, the Cool Kids delighted by detouring into Wu-Tang's "R.A.W." and some classic Snoop Dogg selections, before diving back into their "A Little Bit Cooler" rhymes about Fruity Pebbles and video games. The crowd came for the deafening word-of-mouth buzz and stayed for the pair's all-smiles enthusiasm, and on the popular "What Up Man," even the hippest hoppers chimed in on the laid-back chorus. It's just like the Cool Kids spit during their song "Basement Party": "In the summer when it's hotter than an oven, we the coolest kids we know."
