It's official: Coachella will be pitching its tents in Indio, California until 2030.

The Los Angeles Times reports that on Wednesday (April 3), the city council of Indio approved a proposal from promoters Goldenvoice that will keep the annual festival in the desert city for the next 17 years. Last summer, Goldenvoice threatened to relocate the event if the city went through with a proposed admissions tax.

This new agreement also guarantees that Stagecoach, Goldenvoice's yearly country music showcase, will take place in Indio through at least 2030. Additionally, Goldenvoice now has the option to throw a total of five high-capacity events each year, up from their current limit of three. That clause means that on top of Coachella's double-weekend billing and Stagecoach's three-day lineup, organizers can move ahead with two fall festivals — one with a maximum capacity of 75,000 and another with a cap of 99,000 attendees.

"Our tourist season begins in October and ends in April, so to begin with two festivals and end with three more would book-end nicely," Indio City Manager Dan Martinez told the L.A. Times. "It has huge support on a city level. It really impacts our community greatly. Many people would like to see the number of festivals expand."

Last October, an economic impact analysis revealed that 2012's Coachella festival raked in $254.4 million for the West Coast region; more than a third of that haul reportedly went straight to Indio. Under Goldenvoice's freshly green-lit proposal, the promoters will give $5.01 of every ticket sold to the city of Indio, starting in 2014. Indio currently receives $2.33 from every ticket sold.

This year's Coachella runs from April 12 to 14 and April 19 to 21. Confirmed performers include Phoenix, Blur, the Stone Roses, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Modest Mouse, How to Destroy Angels, Tegan and Sara, the xx, Grizzly Bear, and many more.
