Chrissie Hynde Keeps Austin Weird in 'Dark Sunglasses' Video

Pretenders leader releasing first solo album 'Stockholm' in June

Dan Reilly

In March, Chrissie Hynde announced her first solo album, Stockholm, with the single "Dark Sunglasses." Now the Pretenders frontwoman shares an accompanying video in which director Steve Glashier highlights a bevy of sunglasses-clad Austin, Texas residents. The clip, which debuted on Stereogum, is pretty straightforward, featuring wide shots and close-ups of friendly faces young and old interspersed with shots of the city. The song, meanwhile, is a peppy musing on a riches-to-rags story, centered around the 62-year-old Hynde's strong-as-ever vocals. Due June 10 via Caroline, Stockholm is produced by Peter Bjorn and John's Björn Yttling and features guest spots by Neil Young and, yep, tennis legend John McEnroe.
