Astronaut’s Amazing In-Space ‘Space Oddity’ Video Is Coming Down

Chris Hadfield, David Bowie, "Space Oddity," video, Canadian astronaut, Major Tom

Major Tom is coming home. Exactly one year ago, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield uploaded a head-turning video of himself covering David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” in space. The clip has since been viewed more than 22 million times. But by the end of today (May 13), the video has to come down. According to Mashable, Hadfield had permission to use the song for just one year, though the spaceman’s son, Evan, said they’ll do their best to get the video back up in some way or another. “Space Oddity” turned the star-ward voyager into a star himself, as Hadfield has written a book and is now on the speaking circuit. Watch the outer-space “Space Oddity” one last time below, and scroll down for a remix and live-from-Earth version. Tomorrow, Ground Control could be saying, “Your embed’s dead, there’s something wrong…”
