Chris Cornell Will Front Mad Season For One-Off Reunion Show

Mad Season, Chris Cornell, Reunion

Mike McCready and Barrett Martin, the two surviving members of the grunge group Mad Season, will play together again at a reunion concert next year with Chris Cornell filling in as frontman. The last time the Seattle band officially played together was in 1995, before bassist John Baker Saunders death in 1999 and frontman Layne Staley’s passing three years later. Though McCready and Martin released a reissue of their album Above last year, and they’ve played together, the show will be their first true reunion, even if it’s brief.

Cornell and Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan will fill out the band’s roster, and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra will play arrangements of Mad Season works. The January 30 concert is part of Seattle Symphony’s annual Sonic Evolution, now in its fourth year.
