Chance the Rapper Puffs With Childish Gambino as Justin Bieber Awaits

Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino, Justin Bieber, "The Worst Guys"

Chance the Rapper is SPIN’s 2013 Rapper of the Year, but the Acid Rap mastermind isn’t the type to hang out only with other people who almost topped our 50 Best Albums of 2013. And we wouldn’t want him any other way.

Childish Gambino’s just-released Because the Internet, the follow-up to 2011’s rather jumbled Camp, hasn’t come up much around here, but the rapper also known as TV’s Donald Glover works with some impressive talents — bass-is-the-place Flying Lotus bro Thundercat, Drake’s “Pound Cake” production duo Christian Rich, and Haim hit polisher Ludwig Göransson are among the album’s producers. Chicago’s own Chance turns up on Because the Internet‘s “The Worst Guys,” and sure, his involvement is essentially confined to the woozily percussive track’s elliptical, chant-like hook. But that was good enough to send the 19-year-old on a beach vacation for the song’s video, which involves surfing, smoking, and raving around a campfire. Not the worst, right? Watch that below, via Consequence of Sound, which notes the password is 12.10.13SIXTY.

Justin Bieber’s #MusicMondays series has been nothing to sneeze at, but the recently embattled Believe singer last showed up in these pages for getting spanked by Zach Galifianakis (no joke!). That’s partly because at a certain point the feigned outrage over Bieber’s occasionally-actually-outrageous antics became too much even for us. In any event, Biebs, too, is teaming up with Chance: The No. 1 Belieber has tweeted that “Confident,” featuring the Rapper himself, will arrive the moment it becomes December 9, a.k.a. 12:00 a.m. (presumably EST). We’re confident Chance won’t turn into a pumpkin.
