Cat Power and Sky Ferreira To Play Benefit Shows for Ferguson, Missouri

Cat Power Sky Ferreira Ferguson Missouri Benefit Shows

In addition to making bummed-out indie rock records and duetting with Eddie Vedder, Cat Power (born: Chan Marshall) has always taken time out of her schedule for worthy causes. It seems that for now she’s turned her attention to the tragic events and protests in Ferguson, Missouri. She announced on Instagram on Friday, as Stereogum points out, that she’ll play a show on Sunday, August 24 at the Firebird in St. Louis with proceeds that will go entirely “to help protestors get out of jail & any needed supplies & food for protestors & flowers for rifles.”

Inspired by Marshall’s show, Sky Ferreira has decided to donate proceeds from her show on the same date to Ferguson as well. She said that even though she is “contractually obligated to another show, the $$$ for my performance will go toward this & [she] will be there in spirit.”
