Cat Power's Chan Marshall is currently writing and recording her follow-up to 2008's Jukebox, but she unveiled some new material over the weekend at San Francisco show. Watch some fan footage below (via TwentyFourBit).

Marshall sticks with her gift of writing spare, emotional ballads: The still-untitled track features little more than her gorgeous, nicotine-stained voice and a skeletal guitar riff. The lyrics seem pretty devastating, especially when Marshall sings about "standing on the street in a hospital gown."
