Thom Zimny-helmed clip keeps up 'High Hopes'

Last year, footage surfaced of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (joined by Tom Morello) performing "Just Like Fire Would," a fist-pumper by Australian punks the Saints. Since then, the homage has ended up on the Boss' latest album, the less-than-stellar covers-and-remakes record that is High Hopes. Now, Springsteen has shared a music video for "Just Like Fire Would," and, thankfully, it's far more focused than the uneven LP it calls home. Directed by Thom Zimny, the clip captures an intimate — but no less anthemic — live performance by Springsteen and his cohorts, Morello included. Is the dust-filtered short quite as inspired as the Garden State hero's recent parody of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie? No, but it needn't be — the Boss is already No. 1.
