Watch Bruce Springsteen Kick Off His Aussie Tour With Tom Morello

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off their brief Australian tour in Brisbane last night (March 14), and the Boss brought Tom Morello down under to fill in for longtime guitarist/consigliere Steven Van Zandt, who had to skip the overseas jaunt because of scheduling conflicts with his starring gig in the Netflix series Lilyhammer.

According to NJ.com, Springsteen put on a typically awe-inspiring show, playing 25 songs over a three-hour-plus set, including a chest-thumping cover of “Just Like Fire Would,” a song by Brisbane punks the Saints. In the above video, you can watch the Bruce-ified version of the track — horn hits, gruff sing-along chorus, Max Weinberg and all — to see the Born in the U.S.A. leader once again share the stage with the Nightwatchman.

Morello has previously appeared alongside the E Street Band on several occasions, including a 2012 performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and a gig at last year’s South By Southwest festival. The Rage Against the Machine guitarist also lent his talent to a couple of tracks on Springsteen’s most recent album, Wrecking Ball.

Watch “Just Like Fire Would” up top and head down to see the Boss and crew perform “Because the Night.”
