The Brooklyn Art Collective, a group of eclectic visual artists who arrange their own exhibits in temporary gallery spaces and seek to showcase the work of the borough's young talents, held its latest opening at the White Room Saturday night. "We started this three years ago when we were freshmen at Pratt University," one of the collective's co-founding members, Tyler Wriston, told SPIN.com. "Since then we've done six exhibits."
With their building momentum, BAC recruited fellow borough-dwellers and adolescent duo the Tiny Masters of Today to kick off its largest show to date. The event spotlighted 20 artists and photographers, along with music from Universal Pictures, Rocket Surgery, and DJs Stachemaster and Code D & Envee. Though the night was dubbed Go Icarus: An Exploration of Lowered Expectations, the Tiny Masters' pre-teen punk out-rocked the crowd's doubts about their age, and the showcased artwork upped expectations for the next opening.
