Broken Social Scene to Go on Hiatus

SPIN Staff

Once they wrap up their November U.S. tour, Canada's Broken Social Scene will bid adieu to the road and the studio for a while. "We've become a band that doesn't really rehearse anymore," member Kevin Drew told "We've lost a bit of that thing we had at the beginning where we tried to challenge each other a bit more." So the band is taking a break from itself while individual members like Andrew Whiteman (Apostle of Hustle), Leslie Feist, Dave Newfeld, Emily Haines, and Jimmy Shaw focus on their other projects. "Things kept getting bigger and changing," Drew said. "If we kept going [without a break], we'd be taking it for granted."

The U.S. tour dates have yet to be finalized but the band is planning to visit Florida and some other Southeastern states.
