Bright Eyes Debut at No. 4

Conor Oberst and Co. breach the Billboard Top 200 with Cassadaga.

In the latest salvo in indie rock's assault on the mainstream, Nebraska collective Bright Eyes, fronted by Conor Oberst, has hit the No. 4 slot in the Billboard Top 200 Charts with the band's latest LP, Cassadaga. The new album, which hit outlets April 10, sold 58,000 units in its debut week, delivering both Oberst and Bright Eyes' highest sales numbers and chart placement to date, trumping the No. 10 and No. 15 debuts attained with 2005's acclaimed albums I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn, respectively.

Elsewhere on the charts, Timbaland's solo album Shock Value bows at the No. 5 position for the second week in a row, pushing less than one thousand fewer records than Bright Eyes' 58,000. HellYeah, a metal outfit featuring members of Pantera, Mudvayne, and Nothingface, debuts at No. 9 with it's self-titled album, moving 45,000 copies, while Blonde Redhead's 23 debuts at No. 63 with 11,000 copies sold.
