Tuesday afternoon, in a previously scheduled interview, Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump responded to bassist Pete Wentz' recent Twitter comments about the uncertain future of the Chicago-based band, telling SPIN.com: "I'm not in Fall Out Boy right now... Whether we play again or not, I don't know."
Shortly after SPIN.com's story posted, drummer Andy Hurley took to his Twitter, starting with, "I quit too." He soon followed up, clarifying that, "I didn't really quit, by the way. Everything is being blown way out of proportion."
Later, he wrote, "I'll still be touring the world, somehow, someway," and in response to a fan's question about the news, he replied, "[I] don't have any light to shed. I don't know what's going to happen. I feel it will be ok in the end, but I don't know. Honestly."
Hurley also took to the message board of Fuck City, his Milwaukee music collective, to address the news. "I really wish I could tell everyone if we were done or not. But I just don't know. It's not looking great right now..." he wrote. "Pete loves fob. I love fob. Patrick loves fob. and Joe loves fob. It's just that we're in different places..."
"I honestly think all the pressure of people asking stuff like they are on Twitter every five seconds is more damning to the band than anything," he added. "The whole point of the break was to just get away, and not think about it, and in 2 years or so, come back and decide where to go from there. I believe in us, and I believe we will get in a room, hash out the bullshit like in [Metallica documentary] 'Some Kind Of Monster' (haha) and we will be super stoked to do another record."
Guitarist Joe Trohman pointed his Twitter followers to Hurley's Fuck City blog post, characterizing his drummer's words as "how I feel about the current worries concerning FOB," and tweeted a photo of a cat committing suicide to Hurley, accompanied by the line, "Fine, I quit too. and I'm doing this to myself right now."
Wednesday morning, Wentz addressed the reports about Fall Out Boy's future by posting an old photo of the four boys embracing in a convenience store while on tour. He added a nostalgic caption to the photo: "I miss truck stops and sneaking nachos."
The band's PR rep declined to comment on the band's future status.

Okay to put this out there first, yes, I am a Fall Out Boy addict and they are my drug. (just what the doctor ordered lol) but I'm going to try to look from a non-fall out boy fan's point of view also. Yes,I am in love with them ( I have Pete's bass and a poster on my wall etc..) but if they broke up I'm sure many would be heart broken and pained. This shouldn't stop them from breaking up. It pains me to say all this, but they have to do what they have to do. I say it's been a helluva run and they gave us their all. What more could we ask for? They sorta warned us with "What a Catch, Donnie isn't supposed to keep you on the edge of your seats." yet it's confusing because in 2008 they had a concert with the message Fall Out Boy has just begun in the background on a screen. I think if they wanna quit then they should, but since reading this article and seeing their plans on maybe getting back together in 2 years, I think I'm supporting them alittle more truly on their decision. No I don't like the idea of them being over because I have been a trustworthy fan for over 5 years. But people change and "The world will come around". Who knows, Pete has many things up his sleeve. They might even decide against the whole breaking up thing. (odds are against that though.)If they do intend on breaking up, then I have all hope set for their future on getting back together. I've been thinking... Believers Never Die, so I'll keep believing and hope they get back together. Fall Out Boy will never truly die. They have gone down in all the books whether they like it or not. They will always be remembered. I hope they don't break up, but I can't stop them. Believers Never Die....(I guess)

Why do people insist on making this issue all-or-nothing? I don't like Fall Out Boy that much, but I recognize their importance; if not musically, then certainly culturally.
To those crying their eyes out: there are other bands. This isn't the end of the world, but maybe a chance for you to expand your horizons while they're gone. Try to see the up-side of things.
To those freaking out about how much FOB sucks: you're being equally silly. If you hate them so much, then seriously... just don't even bother. Tediously whining about their Epic Suckage only makes you look like a prat who has to substitute a lack of genuine musical interest with boring rants about the ins and outs of music history and needless name-dropping.
As much as I can't stand one-band fan freaks, I absolutely loathe rock snobs. You don't dictate the tastes of the entire human race; consider that what sounds good to you may sound like nails on a chalkboard to the person sitting next to you. You are not the only person with ears.

ok when i found this out i cryed my eyes out ok and they can take a break but not forever. FALL OUT BOY NO MADER WHAT WILL BE MY FAVE. BAND.
i really hope fob reads these because people really do care about break ups. dont stop fall out boy. love ya. AND YEAH TAKE OVER THE BREAKS OVER FOB COME BACK!

Listen as a Chicagoin who has taste in music losing FOB would suck !!! At a time in "so called rock" Fall Out Boy, stepped in as large as Nirvana at there time as Metallica at thier time and when "Hard core" was suffering "PANTERA" stepped in and saved the art form probobly right be4 it's deth nell. Bands come an go like friends n Wives ,, Family sticks togather n FOB is like any other Chi Family,, disfunctional at times but allways rising to the occasion!!! If the boys need a break,, they've given us there souls in there music .... (GIVE THEM THERE TIME TO HEAL, FIX,RECONSTRUCT OR TO let go if thats what they feel is what must be done.. Im under no misgiving that any of FOB would take the time to read any of out bull&^% they didn't care when nobody knew who they where so they won't care now ,, at least I hope not (Not caring is what made them,, Them)... FOB Chicago is with U,, we take care of our own......

Thanks God. This ****ty band has inspired so many even more ****ty bands. I'm really ready for this **** to go away. Dude cant even sing. Albums dont count because everything is autotuned, live he is hard to watch, almost feel bad for them. Awww some label is giving them a **** ton of money and making them think they're actually good, so sad.

FOB. They've been my fav band since 2005. Yes, it's kinda hard...getting ver the fact that they will not be FOB anymore... (lets face it)...
Anyways... Fall Out Boy... will always "Rock" (at least for me)
Fall out boy will be always playing in my mind and in my soul....

What has Fallout Boy done for you? They recorded some music that you paid to listen to. They didn't do **** for you, my friend. They did it for themselves. You did way more for them than they did for you. Never forget that without their fans, these bands would be nowhere. Have some respect for yourself and remember who did what for who.

Honestly, it's pretty funny how people come on here to rant about how much they "hate" Fall Out Boy. Do you not have lives? And if you truely and honestly hated something, you'd avoid it at all costs. And this article clearly avoids saying they've broken up. Honestly, we need to stop breathing down their throats and let them RELAX. They've done so much for us, it's the least we can do for them. And I do see them getting back together. Just let them take a break, for heaven's sake. Any band who works constantly is bound to break up, so this is just what Fall Out Boy needs.

I started liking fallout boy in the 06 single sugar, were going down. Too me that was a badass song and their rythm was ****ing good. And over the years I've heard and loved their songs and they won some awards which is popularity and fame right there. And their latest album folie a deux was the album i got for my ipod touch, which was so awesome.Even though it wasn't andy or joe's fault, they just want to play.So,pat and pete are going to have to get their act straight and don't take it in on the band. Because they have been together for a while and don't lose it at the end. So, i think they'll pull together and start singing in how the way they began in 01. So, i wish them the best of luck for fall out boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fall out boy sucks ass anyway,...anybody with musical taste and isn't half retarted will say the same. Its a bunch of pussies jumping around in womens pants, winning cause their boyfriends left them. Their music makes me feel like less of a man when its on. And for a side note.. makes me want to vomit on a child.

fall out boy has been my favorite band for over 6 years, i remember the first time i saw them was in san jose, april 5 2006. amaazing show. i have seen them twice and i loved each moment of being in that front row singing along to every song. i'm gonna be verryyy sad if they do end up breaking up, but i hope they don't. i mean who wants to think that right?
but if they do, there's nothing we all can do about it. it's their choice, not ours. and we have to respect their choices, even if it's not something we would agree on. fall out boy, i love you guysss!<33

I love fall out boy so much I'm not the bigest fan but I still cryed when I heard that they was over I hope that they get over being big babys and stop fighting over this I love them but they need to stop and I want them to get back to haveing fun with echouther and Pete and Patrick you to are lovers deep down in side and ther would be no fob with out you we love you all soooooo much plezzzzz don't do this to us!!!!!!
