  • Not even Bono can convince the Pixies to record a new album. In an interview, guitarist Joey Santiago reveals that the U2 frontman begged the group to work on new music — their first since the 2004 single “Bam Thwok.” “Bono even asked,” Santiago said. “He’s like, ‘Please make a record!’ Goddamn, we can’t leave that unturned.” As for whether that will actually happen, Santiago suggested it may be in the cards — but Kim Deal has emphatically denied they’d record again in the past. “We’ve definitely gelled as a unit and hopefully when we can all bury the hatchet — and we have — maybe we’ll go in there and hope for the best,” he said. The Public Enemy rapper (whose real name is William Jonathan Drayton, Jr.) had outstanding offenses for driving without proof of insurance, a parking violation, and two cases of driving without a license. He was booked and eventually released. [TMZ]

  • After wrapping up their current North American tour in June, Deftones will begin work on new music, the group’s follow-up to 2010’s Diamond Eyes. “We’re talking about going in and starting to write again, maybe even two or three weeks in a rehearsal spot just recording ideas and keeping it going,” frontman Chino Moreno said. “So if all goes well hopefully we’ll have some product for early next year.” [Billboard]

  • A California appeals court has rejected Phil Spector‘s plea to have his murder conviction of actress Lana Clarkson overturned. Spector’s lawyers argued that there was judicial and prosecutorial misconduct, and that testimony from five women who claimed Spector threatened them was not properly admitted, but the court has thrown that out.
