Call them the Million Dollar Men: Musician Jon Bon Jovi and fashion mogul Kenneth Cole asked philanthropic fans to “R.S.V.P. to HELP” fight poverty and assist the homeless, and the fans responded with over $1 million in pledges. To benefit Habitat for Humanity, HELP USA, and the Philadelphia Soul Charitable Foundation, Bon Jovi and Cole took their teamwork to Manhattan’s Tribeca Rooftop, auctioning off items like yacht vacations and a “Tiger Woods Pro-Am Experience & Private Lesson” to the sold-out crowd. The two also personally pledged portions of proceeds from Cole’s new R.S.V.P. fragrance and the limited-edition Kenneth Cole/Jon Bon Jovi jackets, in stores now.
Cutting comedian Lewis Black kicked off the auction, and music notables Richie Sambora, Russell Simmons, and L.A. Reid, among other charitable celebs, showed up in support. For their generosity, guests watched a special acoustic set by Bon Jovi, featuring the hit song from R.S.V.P. fragrance commercials, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.” In the continued effort to make sure people in need can go home, the effort doesn’t stop with last night’s event: an online auction of one-of-a-kind items will be open to the public from February 5-15.
