Bob Mould Finally Gets His Sitcom in ‘Star Machine’ Video

bob mould star machine video

Is this Bob Mould’s new music video or his audition tape for Modern Family? Maybe it’s a little of both. In this humorous clip for the Kickstarter tycoon‘s “Star Machine,” Mould, his soundman, and his drummer take over the Lower East Side’s Cakeshop for “The First Annual Bring Your Kids to Work Day,” where the kids get to jam out like their dads. Unfortunately for the drummer, however, he’s going through a divorce and custody battle, so Mould’s kid is tasked with cheering up the sad drummer. Bloody Mary vomit and fisticuffs ensue. The best part of the Jon Glaser-directed video is when Mould and his son are shown coloring with markers, an image that will forever stay with us every time we listen to Metal Circus. NBC has The New Normal and now Mould has The Dü Normal.

The video comes via Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, which has booked Mould and his band to perform on February 28. Speaking of television appearances, PBS aired Mould’s Austin City Limits episode this weekend, which you can watch a clip of here. Hüsker Dü’s rare first single “Statues” b/w “Amusement” will also be reissued on vinyl in time for the next Record Store Day.
