Now that Blink-182 have jettisoned themselves from major label Interscope Records, the pop-punk trio will celebrate their newfound independence with dogs eating dogs, a five-song EP, out on December 18. The follow-up to last year’s Neighborhoods will be available in three different holiday-themed formats: the “Santa’s Lap Package,” priced at $99.99, comes with the digital EP, a limited-edition Blink-182 print by artist Brandon Heart, a holiday edition Blink t-shirt, holiday wrapping paper, and a Blink-182 holiday card; the “Nice Package,” $54.99, contains the digital EP and a holiday edition Blink-182 fleece, along with the aforementioned wrapping paper and card; and the $19.99 “Naughty Package” will guarantee you the dogs eating dogs EP, holiday edition t-shirt, and card.

Fans who pre-order the “Santa’s Lap Package” by noon PST on Monday, November 26 can count on their limited-edition print being autographed by the band. Other surprise additions will be added at random to the three different bundles. Physical items will ship on December 10, while the digital EP will be delivered to purchasers on December 18. Pre-orders can be placed on the band’s website.

“We’re very excited about the dogs eating dogs EP,” bassist Mark Hoppus said in a statement. “These songs didn’t even exist a few weeks ago, they were just ideas. And now they’re about to be released. Being independent, we have the freedom and ability to record and release new music when and how we want.”

Blink-182 recorded the supposedly eclectic EP at guitarist Tom DeLonge’s Neverpants Ranch studio in San Diego and drummer Travis Barker’s Opra Music Studios in Los Angeles in October and November. The pop-pranksters also handled production duties on dogs eating dogs, which will be the first self-released music from Blink in nearly 20 years.

Hopefully the upcoming collection can make up for what Hoppus described as a summer “devoid of a lot of great music.” Barker, who recently collaborated with rapper Yelawolf for the Psycho White EP, spoke highly of the new material, telling Rolling Stone, “To me already, this EP is a hundred times better than Neighborhoods.”
