Alia Shawkat, George Wendt Appear in Bleachers’ Bizarro Telethon

Bleachers Telethon Thank You Very Much

Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff released his debut collection of ’80s-indebted solo jams this week under the name Bleachers. Though he’s teased Strange Desire with a Craigslist ad and a Grimes collaboration, his most inspired bit of promotion came last night in the form of a strange telethon that aired on 20 cable access channels across the country. Now the rest of us can see the very odd, Adult Swim-ish 30-minute video above.

Antonoff of course plays few tracks from his new record, but things are a whole lot weirder than that. There’s stilted dialogue, Alia Shawkat as a ventriliquist, and a cover of Yaz’s “Only You.” Not to mention guest spots from Cheers’ George Wendt, American Movie star Mark Borchardt, and a guitar-toting Steve Little (Eastbound & Down). Also, nobody seems to know just what the show is raising money for. Nevertheless: Thank You Very Much!
