Rick Rubin-produced '13' features Brad Wilk on drums
This Sabbath just got a little blacker. English metal gods Black Sabbath released a statement Saturday (January 12) announcing that their new Rick Rubin-produced album will be titled 13 and will be released this June. No exact release date was given. Singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi (who has battled health problems), and bassist Geezer Butler, along with drummer Tommy Clufetos as a controversial replacement for original bandmember Bill Ward, reunited for 2012's Lollapalooza festival. Erstwhile Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk handled drum duties on 13.
The upcoming effort is the band's first studio album to be recorded with Osbourne since 1978's Never Say Die! and Sabbath's 18th effort overall.
The band has announced a short tour of New Zealand, Australia, and Japan for April and May. As per the press release, more touring plans will be revealed in the coming months. Might want to get started now loosening up your neck for some serious head banging to come.
