Watch Biz Markie Bring 'Just a Friend' to 'Arsenio Hall'

Revived late-night talk show sent viewers through a 1989 time-warp

Wait, what year is this? Last night, Biz Markie performed his classic 1989 punchline "Just a Friend" on The Arsenio Hall Show (also originally from 1989, technically). Twenty-five years after the fact, the Freddie Scott-sampling single can still inspire a television audience to howl along. Biz may be a bit longer in the tooth — and, understandably, a little shorter of breath — but the 49-year-old multi-threat remains the most magnetic guy in any room he enters. For proof, watch the clip above, but be warned: No powdered wigs were used in this performance. And to see the New Jersey native show off his beatbox skills, scroll down to see the buddy cop-spoofing skit he and Hall filmed for the January 23 broadcast.
