Big 4 Take NYC, Lonely Island & Snoop Song + More

  • Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth have announced a New York date as part of their epic Big 4 reunion – their second U.S. gig, after last month’s blowout in Indio, CA. The thrash kings will play Yankee Stadium on September 14. Tickets go on sale May 6 via Ticketmaster. [Metallica]

  • Andy Samberg‘s comic group Lonely Island will team up with Beck, Michael Bolton, Santigold, and other guests for their new album Turtleneck & Chain, out next week. But their collaboration with Snoop Dogg on the title track has leaked early; head over to Nah Right to hear it.

  • Dr. Dre will debut his next single “Die Hard,” featuring Eminem, from his heavily delayed comeback album Detox on Friday. The song will premiere on Showtime’s Fight Camp 360°, which airs at 10 PM/ET. [Rap Radar]

  • Thurston Moore is offering up a new track from his Beck-produced LP Demolished Thoughts, out May 24. Head over to his Facebook page to download the song “Circulation.”

  • The National will reissue their 2004 EP Cherrytree on June 28. The 7-track set will be offered as a limited-edition vinyl release, via Aaron and Bryce Dessner‘s imprint Brassland. [Consequence of Sound]

  • More weird Flaming Lips releases are on the way. Wayne Coyne announced via Twitter that the group will release a marijuana-flavored gummy skull that contains a live recording of their classic LP Soft Bulletin. [Psych Explorations of the Future Heart]

  • M.I.A. and Swizz Beatz are in the studio cooking up new songs for each others’ forthcoming albums. Beatz’ disc will be titled Haute Living, while M.I.A. hasn’t offered any additional details about her follow-up to 2010’s MAYA. Producer Polow da Don previously announced that M.I.A. was also collaborating with Chris Brown on new material.
