Beyonce Reveals Blue Ivy’s Ultrasound in Relatively Lo-Fi HBO Trailer

Blue Ivy Carter

Move over, Kimye. Beyoncé’s daughter with husband Jay-Z just turned one, and she’s ready for her close-up. The newly released, extended trailer for Beyoncé’s February 16 HBO documentary, Life Is But a Dream, includes a glimpse of ultrasound footage starring none other than Blue Ivy Carter. In truth, it looks just about like any other ultrasound, but it’s a rare glimpse of a child whose musical debut came a year ago on Jay’s fatherly tribute “Glory.”

The 90-second clip otherwise expands on the previous 25-second trailer with added, intimate-looking video and a voice-over of Beyoncé saying her goal has become “independence.” At one point, she’s going on live TV in two days and, a man declares sternly, “We don’t have an approved rough cut.” The horror! But most of all, we find out that although Mrs. Hova may be rich and famous, she’s also just like everybody else. It’s terribly bland and condescending, sure, but somehow we still just can’t hold it against the former Destiny’s Child diva.

Speaking of Destiny’s Child, they just shared a new song called “Nuclear,” and they’re set to reunite during Beyoncé’s Super Bowl halftime show next month. Before Beyoncé takes part in that massively watched U.S. tradition, she’s also singing the “Star Spangled Banner” at President Obama’s second inauguration. As the song says, yes, it’s so crazy right now.
