The folksy second song from the Death Cab for Cutie singer's upcoming solo debut, 'Former Lives'

As Consequence of Sound points out, NPR is streaming a new song from Ben Gibbard's upcoming solo album, Former Lives. The Death Cab for Cutie singer teams up with rockin' folky Aimee Mann for "Bigger Than Love," a tender rambler with a lightly proggy breakdown that deals with co-dependence, fate, and rivers full of champagne, naturally.

This is the second song from Gibbard's solo debut, which comes October 16 via Barsuk. Last month, we heard "Teardrop Windows," a loving tribute to Seattle's Smith Tower, the tallest building on the entire West Coast until 1962. Ol' Gibbstack has also delivered a cover of Stars' "Set Yourself on Fire" and the baseball ode, "Icharo's Theme."

Listen to "Bigger Than Love" over at NPR.
