Beck's Latest: Good for Art Projects, Bad for U.K. Charts

DIY artwork in Beck's album, The Information, considered to have an "unfair advantage" by U.K. album chart heads.

Beck's new album, The Information, won't appear on the U.K.'s album chart next week regardless of how many copies it sells. The U.K.'s Official Chart Company (OCC) has ruled that the album has an "unfair advantage" due to its unique cover art and packaging, which includes a DVD of homemade videos, as well as a blank cover and four random artist-designed sticker sets allowing the album's owner to customize the cover. These additional features have rendered the album ineligible to chart in the U.K.
