Beach House on ‘Conan,’ ‘Spider-Man’ Delays + More

  • Beach House capped off their breakthrough year with a performance on Conan last night. Watch the Baltimore dream-pop duo perform the sultry ballad “10 Mile Stereo,” off Teen Dream, No. 17 on SPIN’s 40 Best Albums of 2010 list.
  • More troubles are plaguing the Broadway production of U2‘s Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark. A stuntman was injured during a preview performance of the play last night, falling almost 30 feet and getting sent to the hospital for observation, although a spokesperson for the play says “all signs were good” that he’d make a full recovery. This is the fourth cast member to suffer an injury during the production of the play, which has had its official opening date pushed from January to February. [CNN]

  • SXSW has announced its third batch of performers for the 2011 edition of the fest. Welsh trio the Joy Formidable, hotly-tipped British singer James Blake, Dinosaur Jr‘s J Mascis, New York rappers Das Racist, and art-rockers Menomena are among the more than 100 newly-announced artists who will play the Austin, Texas blowout, which takes place March 16-20.   • Watch Fall Out Boy‘s Patrick Stump perform a new track “Spotlight” as a one-man-band. The track will be included on his upcoming solo album Soulpunk, out next year. Stump debuted two versions of the same song earlier this month.
  • Indie-rock guitar hero Kurt Vile will release a new album, Smoke Ring for My Halo, on March 8. The disc — Vile’s second for revered indie Matador — will be helmed by Sonic Youth producer John Agnello. [Matador Records]

  • The investment firm that owns Michael Jackson‘s Neverland Ranch is looking to turn the Santa Barbara estate into a music school. Colony Capital will first have to get approval from the county board, and approval from the family if it wishes to use Jackson’s name to promote the school. But signs look good: “We’d be open to it,” a rep for the Jackson family said. [TMZ]
