What's that rumble, you ask? Well, naturally, it's Ben Bridwell's Band of Horses trotting their way home following this week's completion of their fall outing behind Cease to Begin, the outfit's sophomore set out now. But it seems these stallions will once again flee the stables, blazing a trail of live gigs across the nation in the New Year. Kicking off near home in Charleston, SC Jan. 20, the band will hit cities across the eastern regions of the U.S., including stops in cities like Philadelphia, Boston, Nashville, Austin, Orlando, and Cleveland.

Deerhunter's Bradford Cox Details Atlas Sounds Project
Soon-to-be documented Atlanta-based outfit Deerhunter is set to go on a hiatus of sorts. And in the mean time, frontman Bradford Cox will step out with his solo project Atlas Sound, and its debut record Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel, due Feb. 19 via Kranky. Speaking to Billboard.com about the project, Cox claimed the new effort was a collection of tunes written mostly "on the fly" and features "lots of computers." "I don't consider myself to be a conventional songwriter," he continued. "There's a lot of layering and building upon those layers. That happened when I discovered the fun of multi-tracking."
"There's no need to work things out in advance," he said of his songwriting methods. "I find it very fulfilling, and it keeps it new to me. There's nothing worse than having an expectation about how something sounds, then finding out how you sound, doesn't meet those expectations." Speaking on the project's sound and influences, Cox said, "I'm really into early electronic music, as well as music as therapy… I wanted this to be close to what I was doing -- the Deerhunter sound is very much five personalities, where this is very much me."
Cox plans to tour behind the release of the forthcoming record, toting Kranky labelmates White Rainbow and Honey Owens to aid the record-to-stage sonic transition. Tour dates yet-to-be announced.
Hey Willpower to Drop Debut Stateside
Hey Willpower, the electro-pop project of Imperial Teen's Will Schwartz and Tussle's Tomo Yasuda, will release their full-length debut, P.D.A., to stateside store shelves Jan. 22 via Tomlab. The record, previously released to overseas audiences, will feature special additions especially for U.S. fans; a revamped song sequence, all new artwork, plus their cover of Architecture in Helsinki's track "Heart it Races." Schwartz, commenting on the new project in a statement, said it "feels like something new and exciting and postmodern without being smug or ironic. Although it's different from Imperial Teen, it makes perfect sense to me to be making the music we're making because it comes from what I love about music."
Though tour dates have yet-to-be revealed, Hey Willpower will tour the U.S. in the Spring of '08, with plans to drop into Austin's SXSW in March.
