Bamboozle 2012 Adds Brand New, 25 More to Lineup

Brand New

The tenth-annual Bamboozle festival is gifting its diehards some new additions: Brand New and 25 other acts including Less than Jake and Buckcherry will be sharing the spotlight with the now 100-act-deep roster in Asbury Park May 18-20.

Considering the Bamboozle branded itself as a pop-punk and emo haven for at least seven of its ten years, the 2012 lineup has been one of its most eclectic yet, starting with the announcement in December of headlining acts like Skrillex, Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, Blink-182, and Mac Miller alongside Bamboozle mainstays like Jimmy Eat World, Motion City Soundtrack, and Bouncing Souls. In the past few years, Bamboozle has striven for diversity — last year’s bill featured LMFAO and Lil Wayne and 2010’s included Drake and Ke$ha.

Nevertheless, pop-punk and emo have persisted, even as the genre fell to hip-hop and dance, so the addition of Long Island-based Brand New (who released a deluxe edition of 2001’s Your Favorite Weapon last year, but haven’t put out a new record since 2009) in addition to the 20-year-old Blink-182 and the newly resurgent Incubus is a predictable act of keeping the peace. Be assured, no emo kids will find the world without a festival where they can relive the violent sorrows of an early ’00s adolescence.

Those new additions to the lineup also include Volbeat, Datsik, T. Mills, and Dramarama; these artists join a roster that already features Jimmy Eat World, Mac Miller, DJ Pauly D, Andrew Dice Clay, Anti-Flag, the Dear Hunter, All-American Rejects, Boys Like Girls, A$AP Rocky, Bayside, Bouncing Souls, the Promise Ring, Motion City Soundtrack, Alesana, Never Shout Never, and Emmure. The fll entire lineup can be found on the Bamboozle’s website.
