Backstage at Lollapalooza: The Cribs

The Brit trio discusses selling their souls for swag and the differences between festivals in England and the U.S.

Wakefield, England's brothers Jarman -- Gary, Ryan, and Ross -- known collectively as the Cribs, sat down with SPIN.com backstage at Lollapalooza this Saturday (Aug. 4), as the band leisurely "whored themselves around" the festival grounds one day prior to their Sunday morning set. As Lolla virgins, the Jarmans humorously teased the concept of festival freebies ("Who needs a soul when you've got [free] spirits?" Ryan quipped) and compared the environs of Chicago's festival experience to that of England's massive events. And thankfully, on day number two, the Cribs observed a lack of a ubiquitous smell of urine and low numbers of casualties.
