Hear Autre Ne Veut and Christian Fennesz’s Textured Team-Up ‘Alive’

Autre Ne Veut, Christian Fennesz, "Alive," Mexican Summer, book

An arty R&B up-and-comer has joined forces with an avant-garde electronic luminary for an analog-only project. Autre Ne Veut, the Brooklyn-based project of singer-producer Arthur Ashin, collides with Christian Fennesz, the revered Austrian composer who has continued shape-shifting ever since 2001’s gorgeously abstracted Endless Summer, on “Alive.” The track, which neatly mashed up the feathery yearning of Autre Ne Veut’s recent Anxiety with Fennesz’s digitally distorted tendrils, will appear on a 10-inch vinyl single included in the Mexican Summer: Five Years book, a label retrospective due out December 9. Spiritualized, Ariel Pink, No Joy, Fresh & Onlys, and more recently joined Mexican Summer for a two-day Brooklyn festival celebrating its five-year anniversary. Read more about the book here.
