Thom Yorke’s Atoms for Peace to Release ‘Amok’ LP in February

Atoms for Peace Amok Thom Yorke Flea cover track list

Back in September, Thom Yorke at last revealed that his Atoms for Peace band, originally formed to take his 2006 solo album The Eraser on the road, would indeed deliver a long-player of its own. In the time since, we’ve heard the blippy single “Default,” the punishing “What the Eyeballs Did,” a handful of untitled teasers, and the promise from Yorke himself that his other band would deliver actual “songs.” Track lists, album names, and release dates have been floated, but now we have official confirmation of what’s to come: Atoms for Peace’s debut LP, Amok, is due stateside February 26 via XL Recordings.

Don’t believe us? Take it away, Thommy:

On Dead Air Space, Yorke revealed the album cover, designed by longtime Radiohead collaborator Stanley Donwood and visible above, and track list as well, which matched the one we reported in early November. In addition, the big ‘Head reminded us of AFP’s impressive lineup, or, “members of staff”: producer-programmer Nigel Godrich, drummer Joey Waronker (Beck, Ima Robot), percussionist Mauro Refosco (Forro in the Dark), and thee mighty bassist Flea (come on). “We put something new on the website for you to stare at etc for a while,” he added. Trippeh. Amok is available for preorder.

Yorke closed with this: “We formed to learn to play The Eraser record, if you don’t know that, and discovered a really good energy doing that… and it fell into this record. I’m still reeling from being on tour for much of the year but we are planning to get together and play etc next year ! We’re figuring all that out right now. Atoms is a ongoing and open ended project, where it leads i know not for certain… which is what is nice about it.”
