A$AP Rocky Raps About Florence Welch’s ‘Left Titty’ on Booming ‘I Come Apart’

A$AP Rocky, Florence Welch

A$AP Rocky and Florence Welch. Those aren’t two names you’d instantly associate with each other on paper, but the New York rapper and the British vocal powerhouse from gospel-powered rock band Florence + the Machine have both been going out of their way to shake up your preconceptions about them lately. For A$AP, whose major-label debut Long.Live.A$AP arrives at last on January 15, that might mean teaming up with Skrillex or, on the album’s phenomenal near-title track, forsaking ratchetness (somewhat) to celebrate life.

Welch, meanwhile, you might’ve seen dueling with Mick Jagger onstage with the Rolling Stones or taking a turn as disco diva on a Calvin Harris track. On the bombastic anthem “I Come Apart,” Welch’s Long.Live.A$AP guest spot, both wisely stay true to themselves — A$AP refers to “the left titty,” and we’re pretty sure we hear him belch at one point, while Welch remains graceful and vocally virtuosic — but in this case that ultimately makes for a strange fit. It’s a promising effort, but fans of Florence’s devil-defying “Shake It Out” or A$AP’s breakout “Goldie” alike might end up scratching their heads.
