Watch A$AP Ferg’s Foreboding ‘Persian Wine’ Video

“Persian Wine,” A$AP Ferg’s latest single, has been on the web since last fall, but is just getting a video treatment now. The clip (co-directed by Ferg himself) sticks closely to the aesthetic that he has carefully cultivated over the last year and change: religious imagery set in the grimy, dusty, abandoned buildings of New York City. As ominous as the clip, the song, in which Ferg weaves his way around a sighing string sample that applies the A$AP clan’s syrup-soaked sound to Timbaland’s Bollywood fixation.

Ferg is the next A$AP rapper set to blow up, and his career has been managed very precisely since he first popped up on Rocky’s “Kissin’ Pink.” He has released only a few singles in that year-plus, but they all point to an artist working toward a very singular project. His debut mixtape Trap Lord is out this summer, with a remix of “Work,” featuring A$AP Rocky, Trinidad James, Schoolboy Q, and French Montana, also on the way.
