Ariel Pink, a.k.a. ‘Saggy Kurt Cobain,’ Was ‘Maced by a Feminist’

Last September on Fox News, Ariel Pink mentioned in passing his experience of being maced on a date gone wrong. The Los Angeles experimental-rock guru has now shared more details from that mishap, as a guest on Alexi Wasser’s YouTube show Alexi in Bed, as seen above. The story begins with the Haunted Graffiti boss going home with a young female musician (who didn’t know about his music) after a party only to listen to her vent about her father.

“That’s what happens with everyone, by the way. If I don’t do it with them they talk about their daddy,” he says, adding that she described him to his face as a “saggy Kurt Cobain.” Things really went south in the morning when she allegedly requested a trip to Robeks, where she proceeded to “bitch [him] out in public” for not offering to pay for her $4 smoothie. His embittered analysis, which may have seemed like a gag at first, gets uglier from there.

He goes as far as to accuse her of believing, “‘I got a good one. I got a great Kurt Cobain wannabe and he’s respectful of women and I can shame him in public. This is just the guy I want.” When Pink countered the supposed tantrum with something along the lines of, “Shut your mouth, little girl, respect your elders, and fucking get out of here,” well, “I got Maced by a feminist.” He says she then smashed his windshield before scraping “A-S-S-H-O-L-E” into the side of the car.

Where the sympathy might land on this “#hatecrime” (which he says in jest) may surprise Pink. Fellow L.A. artist Bethany Cosentino (Best Coast) and SPIN contributor Julianne Escobedo Shepherd shared a Twitter exchange expressing their desire to shake the woman’s hand, as Los Angeles Times points out. Plus, Pink throws in the snide comment “Girls don’t eat, by the way,” which is enough to make any hangry lady want to open up a whole new can on him.
