The Arcade Fire will play their first U.S. concerts in three years beginning August 1 in Boston. In all, seven new American dates have been scheduled, including stops in Philadelphia, Chicago, Nashville, and New York City, where they’llheadline the 20,000-capacity Madison Square Garden, a rite ofpassage for bands entering rock’n’roll’s big leagues. Spoon will open four of the shows.

Prior to the Boston gig, the band will play five Candian dates, starting in Sherbrooke, Quebec, on June 7. Tickets are on sale now via Arcade Fire’s website.$1 from every ticket sold will be donated to Partners In Health, anorganization helping impoverished communities around the world combatdisease and poverty.

Arcade Fire have also announced their third album’s title (The Suburbs) and release date (August 3), and have released a pair of new tracks.

The Suburbs was recorded in New York and Montreal with producer Markus Dravs (Coldplay, Bjork), and was preceded by a 12-inch vinyl single for the album’s title track and its B-side, “Month of May.” Listen to both songs via the band’s nifty record player-like widget below. Frontman Win Butler recently spoke to NPR about the album and its single.

“These two songs are two of the four poles of the album,” said Butler. “A lighter folkier thing, rock’n’roll things, some electronic things… It’s functioning as a bit of an album preview, but the album lies between these extremes.”
