The mystery has been solved: Arcade Fire will debut a new single and music video on Monday, September 9, at 9 p.m. In a recent interview with the Daily Beast, acclaimed director Anton Corbijn confirmed that he worked with the Montreal band on their latest video, a clip that will promote the as-yet-unreleased song “Reflektor.”

“I’m working on a really great song at the moment: Arcade Fire’s new single,” Corbijn said. “The song is called ‘Reflektor,’ and you’ll be able to see it Monday evening… I can’t say much more than that, because it’s all a surprise.” He added curiously, “You’ll have to watch the TV Monday evening.” TV? Do bands premiere videos there anymore?

All the same, Arcade Fire’s highly anticipated fourth album will arrive on October 29 via North Carolina indie powerhouse Merge Records. For the last few weeks, the Grammy-conquerors have been dropping hints both subtle (see the “Reflektor” graffiti campaign) and, uh, not so subtle (see the band’s building-sized “Reflektor” mural). We knew that The Suburbs dwellers were planning something for September 9 (they advertised it on the front of a building), and now we’ve got all the details — except, you know, for the actual song and music video.

Fan Twitter account Arcade Fire Tube reports that when the new track does arrive, it’ll be available as 12-inch vinyl in select record shops (via Consequence of Sound). Until then, we’ll have to make due with the 40-second teaser Arcade Fire dropped earlier this week.
