Aqueduct

Who? With his burly beard and heavy frame, one-man band Aqueduct (ne David Terry) may look like Kevin Smith, but there's nothing Dogmatic about the singer/songwriter's infectious hooks and cascading soundscapes. Soon to embark on an extensive tour in support of his latest album, Or Give Me Death, Terry has added Matt Nader (guitar), Noah Ritter (bass), and Chris Whitten (drums) to the lineup.

What's the Deal? Signed to Seattle label Barsuk Records, Aqueduct joins the ranks of indie pop marvels like Rilo Kiley, the Starlight Mints, and Jesse Sykes as part of the label's string of strong melodic acts. Already a certified hit with The O.C.-crowd (the song "Hardcore Days & Softcore Nights" appeared on the teen soap's Mixtape 4), Aqueduct draws heavily on '60s pop sensibilities and '80s synth-driven arrangements, as evidenced on standouts like "Keep It Together" and "As You Wish."

Fun Fact: Aqueduct is no slouch when it comes to a promotional opportunities -- in addition to The O.C., his music has been featured in two Jaguar commercials. TIFFANY WAN
