Apple has just announced that the fifth-generation iPod, the Shuffle, and the Nano have been revamped. The new iPod, available in 30GB ($249) and 80GB ($349) models, has a 60 percent brighter screen and a user-friendly text-based search function. Additionally, games like “Pac-Man” and “Tetris” (each priced at $4.99) have been specifically designed for the devices. In news for the Shuffle, the 1GB device has been made even smaller than the first generation one, and it comes with a wearable belt clip and a reduced price of $79. As for the Nano, the device has been given a new aluminum case and comes in Mini-like colors (blue, black, green, pink, and silver), has a 24-hour battery life, and is made in 2GB ($149), 4GB ($199), and 8GB models ($249).
The new devices will all work with the latest version of iTunes, which has also been given swanky updates. iTunes now houses some movie titles, which can be purchased and downloaded to iPods, computers, and televisions via the forthcoming iTV player, a video streaming application that’s set to be released in early 2007.
