Anti-Flag Get Hopeful?

Punk-pop troubadours Anti-Flag are up to their usual antics on "This Is the End," a raucous anthem calling out societal flaws. And the video for the song, shot in a dingy venue with tons of fist-pumpers, follows suit, flashing startling statistics across the screen about depression, eating disorders, cosmetic surgery, and television consumption. The state of mass culture isn't so dire for Anti-Flag, though, as sandwiched among lines on "the media machine"'s sadistic pursuits ("Seems every station on the T.V. / Is selling something no one could be") are phrases like "This is the end of hopelessness."
