Hear Angel Haze Surf Over Beyonce’s ‘Drunk in Love’

'Dirty Gold' rapper uses Bey's vocals, surfbort and all, and adds new verses

Angel Haze has never been one to shy away from making a hit song her own, previously reworking Kanye West’s “New Slaves,” Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” and Eminem’s “Cleaning Out My Closet,” often adding her own brand of autobiographical intensity. Back in January, she took on another big-time track, performing Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love” for the BBC, and now she’s released a studio version of the cover, giving it a lot more aggression while removing Jay Z entirely. As opposed to the live rendition, Haze leaves much of the power singing to Bey herself, including the infamous “surfbort” part. Instead, she takes out some of the more Carters’ sexier parts, imbuing an “I’m into you, but I don’t need you” vibe. Take a listen below.
