Amy Winehouse Makes Stateside Debut

Though she sings about Roger Moore in "You Know I'm No Good," in her first ever Stateside show, Amy Winehouse took the stage dressed like a quintessential Bond Girl of the Connery era. Standing behind the mic stand in her busty dress, the only thing bigger than the beehive wig adorning the young British phenom's head was the soulful voice emanating from her pipes. She launched into songs off upcoming album Back to Black, as well as tunes from her Mercury Prize-nominated debut, Frank, and accompanied by the Dap-Kings, Winehouse transformed the venue into a mid-century jazz club. Culminating her performance with '60s soul-inflected "Rehab," it was clear her seductive croon and impressive vocal acrobatics were more lethal than any Bond Girl move.
