Alice in Chains are known for their sludgy tunes, bleak lyrics, and heavy metaphors, but lately the grunge survivors have been showing off a lighter side. They’ve cracked wise in a Funny or Die video, offered sincere words of encouragement to young bands on Reddit, and now they’ve lent their name and music to a mobile pinball game (via Noisecreep). The app is part of the new Pinball Rocks HD compilation, currently available for iOS courtesy Sony Music Entertainment. As seen in the above trailer, which features recent AiC single “Hollow,” the game draws on the fossilized imagery of the band’s new album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here

This is just the latest music-inspired video game to catch our eye. Over the last few weeks, SPIN has spotted a Final Fantasy-style RPG starring Kanye West; a grim browser title modeled after Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart”; and a racing game that highlights original compositions by Giorgio MoroderOther artists have their own apps in the Pinball Rocks collection as well, including AC/DC, Slayer, and Bullet for My Valentine. Head here to grab the app for free (the Alice in Chains game costs $2.99). And remember: In pinball, the objective is to not get stuck down in a hole.
