See Alexis Penney’s Riveting ‘Your Eyes’ Video

Alexis Penney's 'Your Eyes' Video

For “Your Eyes,” the first single off “drag-pop” crooner Alexis Penney’s debut album Window, the New York (via San Fran) singer takes Depeche Mode to the bedroom, blending club-friendly New Wave with blue-eyed soul. “Your Eyes” is the romantic rebuttal to Soft Cell’s Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, channeling its drunk-at-four-in-the-morning energy and inverting it as an ode to a hopeful lover. In the Tony Lowe-directed video above, the former drag show host nods to his past, hitting the club before reveling in his cross-dressing past.

Window, out now, was written and recorded in collaboration with singer-songwriter Jamie Crewe (Poisonous Relationship) and Nick Weiss (Teengirl Fantasy). Penney had previously lent vocals to SSION and Hunx and His Punx.
