Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace Calls Out Arcade Fire Over ‘We Exist’ Video
'Reflektor' clip starred 'Amazing Spider-Man' actor Andrew Garfield in a wig and dress
Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace has some sharp music-video criticism for the Arcade Fire. She tweeted today, “Dear @arcadefire, maybe when making a video for a song called ‘We Exist’ you should get an actual ‘Trans’ actor instead of Spider-Man?”

Last week, Arcade Fire shared the video for their Reflektor track “We Exist,” in which Amazing Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield puts on a wig and dress. Grace’s band released the Essential album Transgender Dysphoria Blues earlier this year, and she has been remarkably candid about the lifelong battle with gender dysphoria that led her to leave behind her previous identity as Tom Gabel. Arcade Fire had yet to reply as of this post.
