Chuck D to Perform Public Enemy’s ‘Fear of a Black Planet’ as Afropunk Festival’s Headliner

Chuck D will headline this year’s Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn, performing Public Enemy’s classic 1990 album Fear of a Black Planet in full with DJ Lord. Other artists confirmed for the two-day showcase include Danny Brown, ?uestlove, Trash Talk, Mykki Blanco, and Le1f. Afropunk runs from August 24 to 25 and will once again take place at Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene. 

The rest of the roster: Death, the Heavy, Saul Williams, Theophilus London, Vintage Trouble, the London Souls, the Coup, K-os, Big Freedia, Rye Rye, Jean Grae, CX Kidtronik, the Dust Rays, the Skins, Meatloaf Muzik, Rebelmatic, Unlocking the Truth, and Sunny Gang. More acts will be added in the coming weeks. 

Tickets are free, but fans must first RSVP here for access. Suggested donation is $25. 

Last year’s Afropunk Festival featured Erykah Badu, Janelle Monáe, Das Racist, Toro y Moi, and Reggie Watts.
