Wilma Rains on Depeche Mode

Because of power outages and curfews enacted after the devastation wrought by Hurricane Wilma, the opening show on Depeche Mode’s tour tonight at the BankAtlantic Centre in Fort Lauderdale has been cancelled. A post on the band’s website says that tickets will be honored at a show tomorrow in St. Petersburg, FL. The show will take place at the St. Pete Times Forum, and those fans who cannot make the show will receive refunds. Depechemode.com quotes the band’s manager, Jonathan Kessler, who says, “Depeche Mode was excited to launch the tour in South Florida. However, they’re not willing to jeopardize the safety of their fans, who would be putting themselves at risk traveling to and from the event under dangerous conditions.” Depeche Mode’s recently released Playing the Angel is currently No. 7 on the Billboard charts.
