  • 50 Cent has revealed his new album Black Magic is nearly finished and will be released this summer. Eminem is slated to appear on the record, which will feature tracks produced by Boi-1da, Alex Da Kid and Symbolyc One. [MTV]

  • Patti Smith is working on a detective novel, which is set in London. The punk legend revealed that she is “68 percent” done with the book, which is inspired by famed characters like Sherlock Holmes and crime writer Mickey Spillane. [NME]

  • Daniel Johnston is producing an interactive comic book, which will also feature downloadable music. The cult songwriter is soliciting donations for the project via Kickstarter. [A.V. Club]

  • Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa will release his major label debut Rolling Paper on March 29. The disc features tracks produced by Pharrell Williams; the first single “Roll Up” will drop in March. [AllHipHop]

  • Charlie Louvin — one half of the legendary country duo the Louvin Brothers — died January 26 at the age of 83. Louvin, who inspired everyone from Elvis Costello to Uncle Tupelo, passed away due to complications from pancreatic cancer at his home in Wartrace, TN. [The New York Times]

  • Manchester Orchestra will release their third LP Simple Math on May 10. The band says it’s a concept album about a 23-year-old who “questions everything from marriage to love to religion to sex.”
