So, Here’s 5 Seconds of Summer Covering Blink-182’s ‘I Miss You’

5 Seconds of Summer Blink-182 I Miss You Cover Video

What’s their age again? Australia’s pop-punkish 5 Seconds of Summer boy band pay tribute to their ultimate musical godfathers, Blink-182, in the video above. Their in-studio, acoustic version of 2004’s nasally beautiful bum-out “I Miss You” sounds a little slicker and a whole lot softer (a missed opportunity for Jack Johnson, we can now hear), but it’s not such an odd fit conceptually. These guys are the perfect pop offspring (ha) of Mark Hoppus and Co. and, to be fair, member Calum Hood owned the shit out of his leaked penis video last week. “I’m still just a teenage kid learning from mistakes,” he wrote on Twitter, which seems like something Blink would’ve sung shortly before adding this punky, puerile proclamation: “Least ya know what it looks like now.”

Speaking of the straight di— err, dope, here’s the original “I Miss You.”

Blink-182 are at work on a new album, and Travis Barker is booked for Run the Jewels’ next one. Also, like everyone else on this great green earth, they participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge.
