Chris Brown Denies Reports of Drug Abuse, Anger Problems

Yesterday, an extensively reported Billboard story painted an unflattering portrait of Chris Brown: Former employees and friends described the singer as angry and unpredictable, abusive to his staff, addicted to cocaine, lean, molly, and Xanax, and obsessive over his ex-girlfriend. Overnight, Brown recorded a series of Instagram Stories videos apparently responding to the story.

“Y’all gotta stop with this ‘angry’ shit, ‘going through drugs,’ and all this other shit,” Brown said. “I’m tired of reading about some shit soon as I’ve got something popping. Soon as I want to promote a tour, a party, a fucking album, anything, y’all bring up something.”

“I am not hurting out here, trust me,” he added in a second clip, displaying a parking lot full of sports cars. In a third video, Brown claimed he’s focused on work, filming what appears to be a remodel of his home recording studio. (A salient moment in Billboard‘s story involved a construction worker arriving at Brown’s house.)

Instagram Stories self-erase after 24 hours, but fan accounts have preserved the videos, which SPIN confirmed also appear on Brown’s official Instagram account. Watch them below.
