Last night, Dave Chappelle appeared at “Open Mike,” the bi-monthly talent showcase for teenagers in Chicago organized by Chance the Rapper. The appearance was apparently a surprise for the teens in the audience, and in two clips below, you can watch Chappelle talk to one student who is an immigrant from Tunisia, as well as offer general advice to the crowd about the role of an artist.

The appearance comes two days after Chappelle gave a speech at a protest against Donald Trump’s Muslim ban in Dayton, Ohio.
